2025 TEA TOURS
Wan Ling’s Spring 2025 tea tours began in March with a trip to Yixing in Jiangsu province
Visiting artisans making and selling the famous unglazed Zisha teapots; we headed to our friend Mr Ge’s workshop to view his work and have dinner. The tour continued with a visit to a Bamboo forest in Anji, Zhejiang province, and the chance to see green tea production first-hand.
Then onwards to Wuyi in Fujian province, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to hike in the unique landscape of sandstone and volcanic granite gorges and visit the Da Hong Pao mother trees.
In April, Wan Ling and six students started with a hike in Wuyi, building up a thirst for the renowned mineral-flavoured 'Rock Oolong' teas from that area. The tour travelled onwards to Dehua in Fujian province - home of the famous ivory white porcelain referred to in the West as 'Blanc de Chine' - and a visit to a traditional wood-fired dragon kiln.
Remaining in Fujian province, the tour continued with a climb to the top of Bijia Mountain to visit Mr. Chen’s latest discovery of an abandoned tea garden.
Spanning Anxi & Nanan counties. Everyone enjoyed sipping tea at the summit and marvelling at the expansive views. The time with Mr Chen gave the group a rare chance of seeing oolong tea production first-hand in his tea factory, as well as a tasting of his wonderful artisan Minnan oolong teas. Fuding was the final destination, home of white and jasmine teas.
In October Wan Lings tour focuses on her home province of Fujian once more.
This time the tour will include a visit to Anxi and the Scenic Buddha Ear Mountain, dinner with a local family in the Zhen Shan tea village, and visiting the Seven Sisters old tea trees and a tea tasting with Mr Chen.
There is no better way to learn about tea and appreciate the complexity in the craft of growing and producing it than to travel with Wan Ling on one of her Tea Tours.
