On the road with Wan Ling Tea House

Spring season is nearly over; we've been on the road again searching for great teas

We are looking forward to offering our usual favourites such as Tai Ping Hou Kui green tea from Anhui, Dian Hong black tea from Yunnan as well as some new additions.

New to our range of green teas will be Anji Bai Cha. The name often confuses as Bai Cha is translated as white tea. However Anji Bai Cha is processed as a green tea and has become increasingly popular in Shanghai and the surrounding provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Anji Bai Cha gets it's name from the tea bush cultivar which is famous for it's fine white new leaves and buds. These cultivars are sometimes referred to in research papers as Albino shooting.

Whilst on the subject of 'Bai Cha'. Wan Ling took the opportunity to visit Fuding in Fujian. Fuding is the home of white tea and one of the main production regions along with nearby Zheng He. Fuding grows a number of cultivars including Da Bai (big white) and yi hao (number 1).

Continuing through Fujian. Wan Ling visited WuYi mountain (Wuyi Shan) to catch up with old friends and to develop new contacts. Later in 2015 we are looking forward to extend the collection excellent Rock oolong teas.

Earlier in the year, Wan Ling returned to Yunnan to explore the ever changing tea world there. No matter how many times you have the chance to visit, the more there is to learn. The world of tea is moving very fast these days and in Yunnan, theories, practices, technologies and scientific knowledge is progressing in leaps and bounds.

For the Wan Ling Tea House team, tea is a life time passion and looking to the future we are excited to selectively expand our collection of choicest teas. This will include a broader range of Puer teas and Yunnan black teas.

There are still many more travels due in 2015, but this is a little snap shot of the year to date. We hope you enjoyed the update and we look forward to sharing some of the teas we have selected this year.

Happy sipping.
