Bai Ya Qi Lan Oolong is a classic style Oolong, heavily baked for a fuller flavour and rich caramel-honey like tones. Our 2015 Bai Ya Qi Lan Oolong captures thick floral notes, that balance well with the flavours. This Southern Fujian oolong is excellent choice for tea lovers who like to enjoy teas now, but also build up a collection for later enjoyment or even ageing.

A Hidden Gem...

This tea is not well known, it seems, and yet it is as satisfying as teas three times the price. To my intermediate palette, it lies somewhere between traditional Tie Guan Yin and the most succulent of Taiwanese oolongs. It produces absurdly sweet, brown-sugary aromas, as if someone were baking cookies. It brews up like syrup, and yet there's an almost-bitter vegetal edge to the taste that reins in the sweetness. It's not terribly refined it's a bit rough around the edges, but it's a roughness that's quite encouraging. It reminds you that you're not drinking a modern 'nectar', 'GABA' something or other, but a good old fashioned Chinese village tea.
