Competition grade Tie Guan Yin is careful selected from the best plants, on the best day, at the optimal time and hand processed by a farmer with generations of experience, this 'Wang' or emperor Tie Guan Yin is an exquisite Oolong tea. The lightly oxidised (20-30%) leaf produces a magical, clear liquor with a pale golden tones and the leaf, after a few infusions, is a glorious emerald green. It has been 2 years since we have had favourable conditions on the mountain to be able to harvest such a superb tea. This is an extremely limited edition tea and a grade we can not guarantee for future harvests. It is very much a gift of nature. The limited production of CanSai JiPin Tie Guan Yin is such that this tea is very sort after with many of Wan Ling's Shanghai shop customers pre-ordering before it arrives. Tea appearance: Bold and stunning green. Even coloured, manually prepared pellets. Leaves open to an evenly oxidised pale green, mid-size leaf.
Tea liquor: Pale, bright, translucent, pearlescent, iridescent green / golden liquor.
Tea aroma: Complex and multi-layered. Hints of flowers especially orchid, undertones of creme with a warm, cleansing freshness.

I have reserved this Tie Guan Yin for special events, since it is a unique balance of the fresh and smokey fragrance with a characterized taste. It deserves 8-10 infusions.We used to enjoy it with my fellows at yiwutang on special events like after a successful exam or after an exhaustive lion dance session. Anyhow, the gongfu tea has close connection to the gongfu in martial arts, since both are rooted on chinese traditions.This king size oolong reminds me for the taiwan oolongs like Dong Ding.Great value.
