Jasmine Tea
Jasmine tea is characterised by the tea flavour as well as the fragrance of jasmine flowers. It is popular among tea lovers in the north of China. Top-grade jasmine tea always has an enduring fragrance and unforgettable after taste. Many jasmine teas are made by scenting tea leaves with fresh flower buds. Baked green tea is mainly selected for jasmine tea scenting. Jasmine tea is the most popular flower-scented tea. To enjoy the tea is to enjoy it’s fragrance.
Jasmine tea is usually prepared in a covered porcelain cup or other kinds of cup with a lid in order to keep its aroma. When enjoying jasmine tea, one can smell not only the fragrance of the tea liquor, but also the fragrance on the lid.
Some popular Jasmine scent teas are;
Xiao Long Zhu
Xian Long Zhu is an excellent type of jasmine tea with a great flavour which is convenient to use and store. As with many teas xian long zhu are available in many grades. Typically it easy to judge these as the volume of jasmine is directly related to the quality i.e. a strong, natural scent with a high percentage of white flowers.
Moli Xiantao
"Peach of jasmine". After you have added hot water the 'peach' will open out to show a beautiful red flower. The tea has a glorious smell and pleasant, soft flavour.
Moli Yuanbao
Named after China's old style money, 'YuanBao'. Very much like the 'xiantao' tea when hot water is added you are greeted by a wondrous sight. The Moli yuanbao opens to show three flowers. The flowers vary, some are Chrysanthemums, some are lilies and others are QianRiHong (Please tell us what the translated name is!!).
Qi Xian Nu
It's called Qi xian nu, seven Fairies (Faeries) because when it opens you can see seven Jasmine flowers which looks like fairies flying out.
