First infusion used to wake and warm the tea. After a brief infusion, the tea is poured into the serving vessel, the leaves beginning to slightly unfurl, drawing out a pale yellow liquor, a fruity aroma emerges from the soup.

Second Infusion After a short steeping time of eight seconds the tea presents a rich and complex floral and fruity aroma and a bright orange liquor, possessing exceptional clarity with an initial burst of sweetness that lingers in the mouth long after the first taste. The complex aroma is detectable in the liquor, with notes of plum and orchids that cling to the mouth and cheeks.

Third to Fourth Infusion - The aroma begins to settle down with the rich golden liquor tasting sweet and smooth.

Fifth to Six Infusion - The colour, taste and aroma are beginning to thin slightly, a process off-set by a residual and long-lasting sweetness felt at the back of the mouth and throat.

During a cold and rainy autumn day I felt a pang of melancholy rise within me, after several cups of warming Qilan, my spirits were lifted and replaced with a healthy glow. The third and fourth infusions in particular roused my senses with their smooth, healing and sweet flavours that lingered long after the tea session had finished.
